Gathering Gratitude and Memories
In this last week of November, I am mindful of our neighbours, near and far.
To the south of us, our American friends celebrate Thanksgiving on the 26th. Families gather, enjoying fruits of the harvest season, and the company of those they love.
In our local neighbourhood, families are also gathering, not in celebration, but to clean up the destruction to homes and property, brought on by the flood waters.
Driving past these homes every day, I have watched as the collections of destroyed belongings grow, in size and number, as the long process of flood recovery begins. My heart goes out to all families who have lost so much, so unexpectedly, so quickly. Many belongings can be replaced, but photo memories can not.
I sincerely hope that the photo collections of the hundreds of families affected by the flood, are secure. I am reminded of the many boxes of photos stored, in various states of organization, in our basement, waiting to be documented in scrapbooks, one day.
In the meantime, I need to make sure they are out of harm's way, should we suffer flooding in our own home. How about your photos? Are they somewhere out of the way of a sudden flood? If you had a disaster beset your home, can you gather your photos quickly as you escape harm's way? Much can be replaced. Family and photos can not. As we leave fall behind, gather your family and photos together. Ensure people and pictures are safe, as we head into the busy lead up to Christmas.

In our last newsletter, we mentioned SDU, Scrapbook Design and You, with a promise of more information to come.
SDU, Theory, Technique, Foundation, Success, has been created by key
professional educators at EK Success. It is available only through SDU Certified Instructors.
At Treasured Memories, that's Sharon! We are thrilled to announce that the SDU program will begin at Treasured Memories, January 4, 2010!
The course consists of 4 classes, each 2 hours long, and includes a full colour, 60 page magazine style reference book.
On completion of the program, students receive Scrapbook Certification, issued directly from EK Success.
This program will repeat every month, beginning the first Monday evening of the month, for 4 consecutive Mondays.
The program fee, including the book, is $45.00. Supplies and tools are extra.
Whether you are brand new to scrapbooking, or an experienced hand at layouts, there is something in the SDU program for everyone.
